Wide Open Spaces #4 - Take Off the Mask
The Apostle Paul was in a unique season in his life when he wrote the book of 2nd Corinthians. There are things working inside his spirit - he communicates out of a posture of what God is doing in him and what God is saying to him. He also knew that he was addressing a church that had a lot of issues.
2 Corinthians 3:12-18
Moses kept wearing the veil that he originally wore because of God’s glory shining so brightly on him. But, the veil that hid the shining of the glory eventually became the veil that hid the fading of the glory. The veil became a mask that Moses used to hide behind.
Don’t get caught hiding behind the mask of former glory! This is a new day!
Culture is changing. The scariest thing to me for our church would be to rest on our laurels. To settle in, to say, “this is good enough.” Let’s never hide behind the mask of any former glory days.
Christ came to set us free! It’s not a license for selfishness, greed or lust, but a freedom to be all God has called you to be. The Christian life is a life of liberty!
2 Corinthians 3:18
We are transformed as we behold the Lord as in a mirror. If we didn’t have the clarity of the word, we would keep making Jesus in our image. But, when we define Jesus through the Word, we get an accurate picture of Him.
We look in the mirror to see who we really are, how we should really think, to build our faith. When I look in the mirror of the Word, I see that I am blessed, loved, favored, that I am righteous.
Keep looking in the mirror! Keep looking at Jesus! Be transformed into who He made us to be!
