This is My Year: See It

Isaiah 54:1-3 “Shout for joy, O barren one, you who have borne no child; Break forth into joyful shouting and cry aloud, you who have not travailed; for the sons of the desolate one will be more numerous than the sons of the married woman,” says the LORD. “Enlarge the place of your tent; stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not; lengthen your cords and strengthen your pegs. “For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left. And your descendants will possess nations and will resettle the desolate cities.

This scripture is a prophetic promise that speaks to me and encourages and challenges me. If you have ears to hear, it can be a prophetic promise for you. In this passage God is declaring something to exist, before it exists. God says that in the middle of a barren situation, he will give you fruitfulness.

Then it says that we should structure our world to accommodate our expectation of God's fulfillment of that promise. We should shout for joy and declare the word of the Lord but also enlarge the place of our tent. It’s not just about buildings but it’s about our outlook on life.

You have a God-given capacity to create your future, so stop just letting life happen. Engaging faith and actively pursing God allows God’s will to take place in your world.

You cannot predict everything that may happen to you, but you are in control of your response when difficult things come along. You can sow seed that aims at a harvest you want. The beginning of the year is a great time to begin forming new habits. You could read your Bible, pray, exercise, change your eating habits, work on your people skills or work on a new skill set. Those all have the power to change your life.

We all see things from our perspective. We just want to make sure our perspective lines up with God’s perspective. View your circumstance through a faith lens, rather than faith through a circumstance lens. We don’t react to circumstances, we act from faith.

Isaiah 55:8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Higher thoughts lead to higher ways. Higher perspectives lead to higher lifestyle.

Matthew 6:22 “Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!

Open your eyes wide in wonder and belief:

I wonder what great things God has in store for me this year.

I wonder where the next turn of favor is going to show up.

I wonder who God is going allow me to help or bless this year.

I wonder what opportunity is going to come my way.

I wonder what I’m going to learn this year.

I wonder what great new person I’m going to meet this year.

You can have a great year for the glory of God!
