Positioned for Your Next Season

positioned_web

God has something in store for your next season - something greater, better, higher, and richer. Focus on the goodness and mercy of God, not on the difficulties – press on towards your future!

Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau" -Genesis 35:1

God is calling Jacob to shift gears so he can move into a new season and be in a position for God to do what He wants to do. We need to learn how to be positioned for our next season. First, God takes Jacob back to the place where one of his greatest dreams was born.

Genesis 28:11-12, 17, 19

Maybe God wants to remind you of a dream He gave you. Take another look. You’re in a new place, from this angle the circumstances might look different. -

As Jacob begins to move, God reminds him of 3 things:

Genesis 35:9-12

When you understand these three things you are going to be in a great position for God to do something.

1. Know who you are. Know your identity.

Your call is written into your soul. Jacob tried to get by his own strength, what God wanted to give him. That dream lived in Jacob just like your dream lives in you. No one else has the calling that God has ordained for you.
When we receive Christ, we are given a new identity. You can never know who God has called you to be until you let Him define you.

2. Know who your source is.

He is El Shaddai – the God who is more than enough. The way we see God shapes our lives, our homes, and our work. God has more than enough resources and power to fulfill all of our dreams.

3. Know what is yours.

“The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, And I will give the land to your descendants after you." -Genesis 35:12

God is reminding Jacob (Israel) of His covenant promise. The foundation of our future is built on the faithfulness of God to keep His covenant promise.

No matter where you find yourself right now, God has a bigger, brighter future for you – position yourself for your next season!
