Keep Asheville Weird #5 - Serve

KAW-slide

Matthew 20:25-28

God’s path to greatness is not found by ruling over others but by being the best servant. Serving is the path to greatness in the Kingdom of God.

Your value in any arena is directly related to the service you provide. If you serve your work well, you are a valuable employee. If you serve your spouse well, you bring value to your family.

The path to greatness is found in serving

The great people in this world are those who served in the greatest way. You will enter into the circle of success by entering the circle of serving.

John 13:1-17

Jesus, as the most powerful person in the room, served his disciples by washing their feet. Serving is about washing the feet of others with your gift or position.

1 Peter 4:10

Every person has a gift. Take your gift and employ it in serving others!

Servanthood is proactive, not reactive

Jesus knew that Judas was about to betray him, but that didn’t stop him from washing the disciples’ feet. Don’t let someone else’s misuse of your serving, or lack of appreciation steal your own path to greatness. Serve because you understand the principle, not just because you’re looking for the proper reaction.

True serving is birthed out of a confident sense of identity

John 13:3

Jesus knew what was His, where he had come from and where he was going. He had a strong sense of confidence and security because of his relationship with God.

No matter what gift God has entrusted you with, use it to serve the people around you – your family, your church and your community.
