Joy #16 - How to Have a Perfect Attitude

Philippians 3:12-16

There are few things more valuable than your attitude. Your attitude will make or break you in life. When your attitude changes, your life changes.

Matthew 6:22

The way you see things is the way it will end up being for you. Your life is not happening to you – it’s flowing out of you.

Here are five key attitudes to have:

1. I haven’t arrived yet

A perfect attitude realizes that there is always room to grow. Your current thinking, attitude, and faith have created the life you now possess. You can always develop the attitude that will take you to the next level!

A perfect attitude is a teachable attitude. This doesn’t mean you don’t know anything – it just means you don’t know everything.

2. I will constantly press on

Perseverance is a powerful thing. An attitude that says, “I will not quit, I will not give up, I will keep on keeping on” is powerful.

Proverbs 24:16

The difference between excellence and mediocrity is pressing on. Mediocre settles for what it gets; excellence keeps pressing on.

3. I will forget the past

You cannot walk into your future carrying all the baggage of the past. Leave the past behind. It doesn’t serve you to carry around past offenses or hurts. Carrying them around serves no good purpose.

It’s even important to realize that what worked in the past will not work in the future. Trying to recreate the past won’t take you where you want to go.

4. I will reach forward to what lies ahead

A perfect attitude is headed somewhere – always reaching, growing, expanding, and increasing.

Let dreams of the future rule you, rather than nightmares of the past. Your future lies in front of you – keep your eye on it and keep reaching! In the reaching – you are becoming.

5. I will recognize and cooperate with God’s call on my life

Remind yourself: I am destined by God – created and gifted to fulfill a purpose. Your life has a reason, a call, a purpose. You are destined for something!

A perfect attitude recognizes the God factor – that you were created and gifted for a reason.
